Date 2026.05.20

The joint graduation ceremony for the 1st and 2nd cohorts of the TechSheCan vocational training program was held on May 14, 2026, in Gasabo District, Kigali, Rwanda. The ceremony was supported by the Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) under the “ODA Project to Support Women’s Empowerment in Rwanda(TechSheCan Project)”. The project is funded by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) of the Republic of Korea and is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF) of Rwanda.
📌 TechSheCan is the abbreviated title for the project “Technical and Entrepreneurial Skills Development for Girls and Young Women.
Approximately 300 participants attended the ceremony including 198 graduates and the KDS team, Her Excellency Consolée Uwimana, the Minister of MIGEPROF, representatives from the Rwanda TVET Board (RTB), training institutions, graduates’ families, to celebrate the successful completion of the training.
The vocational training program for Cohorts 1 and 2 under the TechSheCan Project was conducted from December 2025 to April 2026 across three districts in Kigali for approximately 200 young Rwandan women. The training focused on three trades (Automotive Mechanics, Videography, Graphic Design) and was delivered through an Industry-Based Training (IBT) approach in partnership with companies. Through this model, trainees were able to acquire practical and workplace-oriented technical skills in real working environments.
The graduation ceremony served as an opportunity for graduates to share the skills and competencies they had acquired and to take a new step toward employment and entrepreneurship.
KDS will continue its cooperation with MIGEPROF and local partner institutions by supporting follow-up measures to give the graduates opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship, to promote the economic participation of young Rwandan women and sustainable gender equality in Rwanda.
